Tips for Improving your Mental Health

Most of us are busy in improving our physical well health, taking care of our body but if our mental health is not well, no matter how much we try, we will not be called healthy in true sense. Our physical health is directly related to our mental health. If we are stressed and not having mental peace, we won’t be able to do any work properly and may fall sick ultimately.

It is very important to take care of the mental health regardless of the age. Whether we are talking about a child, an adult or an aged person, all should be mentally healthy. Let us discuss about some tips that will help you to improve your mental health.

1. Be active:

There is a saying “Idle brain is the devil’s paradise” and it is very much true. We need to keep ourselves active as much as possible. We must be engaged in some productive work and should not give a chance to our brain to be idle. Idle brain ignites overthinking and ultimately causes a lot of stress. So, be active and keep yourself engaged as much as possible.

2. Eat well:

Many of us have a habit of skipping meals or eating late. But these not only cause sickness but also can make us tired and stressed. This will ultimately affect our work and the people around us.

Also, keep in mind that eating your favourite food can make you happy and satisfied and thus take out some time and enjoy the food you love to eat.

3. Talk about your feelings:

When we feel stressed, it is always a good idea to talk to someone about our feelings. Of course, we need someone, who will be interested to hear and can give you good suggestions.

If you are not getting someone to talk about it, then at least write it down somewhere. It will always give you a feeling of relief which is very much important for coming out of the stress.

4. Learn to relax:

Don’t forget that you are a human being with feelings and you are not a machine. Many of us just work like a machine, we don’t take out any time to relax. It’s a total no for us. We are human beings after all, not only physically but we get tired mentally also. Mental tiredness can give birth to frustration, depression etc., which is very much harmful for our mental health.

Take out some time, relax, listen to your favourite music, watch movies, go for a vacation – just do what makes you happy and relaxed. If you think you are very busy, change your mindset otherwise your future destination will be the chamber of counsellors.

5. Practice forgiveness, patience:

Patience and forgiveness – both are very important qualities to be practiced, if we are really looking for a healthy mind.

Remove anger, grudge, impatience as much as possible. Learn to forgive and forget, practice patience. You may not be able to achieve these in one day but if you practice, definitely you will be achieving it slowly. These qualities will bring mental peace in your life and thus will surely improve your mental health.

6. Ask for Help:

If you need help in any situation, don’t hesitate to ask for it. Some of us think that what others will think, if I go for counselling or any other medical help. But if you keep yourself like this for long time without taking the help, then definitely it will deteriorate further. So don’t hesitate and take the help that you need. Your mental and physical health should be the priority for you always.

7. Accept who you are:

Stop comparing yourself with others. You are not them, you should know yourself very well first and should not put yourself in others shoes. If you are not good at something, it’s okay, remember that you have many good qualities that others are not having. So, accept who you are and be happy with what you have.

8. Take care of others:

We are not alone in this world. No one can be happy ever if they just try to live alone. Take care of others, make others happy. The satisfaction or happiness that you will get from putting a smile on others face or making others happy has no comparison with any thing else in this world. So, be happy and make others happy too.

Hope the above tips will help you to keep you mentally healthy. You have only one life and so do not spend it under stress but make it happy and meaningful.
