Understanding Your Commercial Espresso Machine

This article will explain the basic features and functions of a commercial espresso machine.

A commercial espresso machine has one or more "groups," also called "group heads." This is the place where the group handle is inserted to hold the filter basket (where ground coffee is placed).

The group handle and the filter basket and coffee are inserted into the group and locked with a slight twist to enable you to extract espresso. The switches provided on the front panel allow you to control the extraction.

Choosing the right Commercial Espresso machine and the right equipment can be a daunting task. There are four different types of commercial espresso machines and all of them have different features and functions.

Manual

A manual commercial espresso machine, as the name suggests, is a hand-operated lever-style machine. This machine isn’t much in demand because of its manual nature. The best thing about this machine is that it needs simpler repair and is more reliable as compared to the others. You can control the infusion, which helps you to get the perfect flavor with the coffee grounds.

However, the drawback of this machine is that it is not good for high traffic areas because it requires manual operations and can increase the risk of accidents due to human intervention. But if you purchase it with a propane kit, you can easily take it anywhere, lower electricity costs, and use it at fewer traffic locations.

Semiautomatic

This semi-automatic espresso machine has one-group rather than multiple groups so when you need to start pouring each pour at a separate time. It can be troubling to stop all groups at separate times especially when you are serving coffee to a large number of customers.

This machine is a good upgrade for people who are still stuck on manual machines. If they want something new to get over with manual operations, they can go for semi-automatic machines. The only thing, you need to make sure of is that it can make only one cup at a time. With it being semi-automatic, it allows you to enjoy hands-free operations.

Automatic

Automatic Espresso machines for commercial use are a game-changer for high-traffic areas. This type of machine can handle one to four-groups. It tends to make the espresso shot by itself and allows the barista to steam their milk and create a more productive environment. The basic shots need to be programmed, there are options to customize orders that most espresso-lovers prefer.

Super-automatic

Last but not least, the super-automatic espresso machine is the most expensive of all commercial machines. But keep this mind that this machine allows you to increase productivity and offer consistent products. It reduces labor costs as a barista can prepare so many drinks in one go and help employees focus on other tasks.

Final Words: Understanding your commercial espresso machine depend on what type of machine you are using. Match the machine specification according to your use. When buying, keep in mind, the number of employees or guests, it will be serving daily.
