Different types of Beans for making Coffee
Different types of coffee beans are available in the market but the most popular of all of them are only two: Arabica and Robusta.
Arabica
Arabica is available all over the world. Around 60-70% of the coffee produced across the world is Arabica. It originated in the 7th century from Ethiopia. Coffee made from this bean is sweet in nature. Depending on the process of making a coffee, its taste can be changed from sweet to bitter, causing acidity.
The plants of this bean are grown on elevations above 2000 feet and need proper shade to grow to about 9-12 meters. Most grocery stores and coffee shops have this bean only.
Robusta
The second most popular coffee bean is Robusta. It counts for 20-30% of the coffee production all over the world. The caffeine content of these beans is double that of the Arabica bean. That makes the coffee made from these beans a bit bitter. Slightly higher quality and robust nature a makes a perfect espresso coffee.
Robusta plants are grown at low altitudes and need a lot of water. The Robusta bean contains 2.5% caffeine and that is the main reason why this plant act as a strong repellent against insects.
Importance of grinder
When people buy coffee-making machines, they tend to forget grinder. Buying a grinder or grinding step is very important for a coffee machine. There are two kinds of grinders; a blade grinder and a burr grinder. Both of these grinders give a different taste of the coffee.
A burr grinder is considered best for grinding coffee beans. It grinds coffee beans in uniformity maintaining consistency. It doesn’t overheat beans during the entire process of grinding. A blade grinder, on the other hand, overheats the beans that lose their freshness over time.
